The European Ichthyological Society is awarding the best oral and poster presentations given by students at the EIS congresses.
The European Ichthyological Society Student Awards (EISSA) are given for the best presentations of students during each EIS congress. There are two categories of EISSA: oral and poster presentations and in each category 1 to 3 presentations will be awarded, depending on the number of candidate presentations and the evaluation results. Application is open to students of not more than 35 years (at date of presentation) that are registered as participants of the EIC congress and are first and presenting author of the EISSA candidate. Each student can submit one presentation only as EISSA candidate. The total number of authors of a presentation nominated for the EISSA must not exceed three. An EIS membership of the applicant is appreciated but not required. The application should arrive at board member Jörg Bohlen (bohlen@iapg.cas.cz) not later than the registration deadline for the given EIS and include 1) a short informal cover letter including date of birth and description of present position, 2) a brief description of the importance of the presented study (max 250 words) informal declaration of the supervisor about the student status of the applicant and the duration of this status and 3) a summary of the student’s presentation with the title and 4) a detailed list of contribution of each author. The applicant will be informed about the acceptance of the application. During the ECI, an evaluation committee for each category will evaluate the candidate presentations. The presentations chosen by the evaluation committees will be made public at the end of the ECI by the president. Each awarded student will receive a certificate, a financial award (200 EURO) and the offer of a free EIS membership for the period until the next ECI.
